What opportunities do you feel that the Cloud Insurance summer internship has provided you with?

First off, I got the opportunity to continue working part-time at Cloud Insurance while studying, and that I could do it whenever it fits me. I can’t imagine a better job as a student! In addition to that, the possibility to work full-time after I graduated also presented itself. Sadly, I chose to stay in Trondheim and thus had to turn down that alternative. However, if I moved to Oslo, I definitely would have taken it. With that said, my time at Cloud Insurance is a valuable experience to have on my resumé, and helped me land the job I have today!

How was it to work with us in comparison to other previous/later jobs you’ve had?

Better! The environment and atmosphere at Cloud Insurance was something utterly unique that I’ve yet to experience anywhere else. And, you’re incredibly well received by the other employees.

What new competence did you gain at Cloud Insurance?

I got a lot of experience with web development in front-end with VueJS, with agile methods, and what it’s like working in a team. A bonus is that we got to work on the actual Cloud Insurance product, which made me feel like I finally took part in a real project that creates tangible value. Also, I had the opportunity to work for two weeks on a data analysis project where we explored the potential for discovering insurance fraud from Cloud Insurance’s data. We used analysis tools in Python such as pandas and scikit-learn. This was a unique opportunity to practice my education on real data!

What do you think others will appreciate when working at Cloud Insurance?

Cloud Insurance is an unbelievably fun gang that welcomes you with loads of energy and positivity. From day one, you get trust and responsibility, and you feel like an essential asset and part of the company while you’re there. Also, they know how to have fun both at and outside of work!

Why would you recommend students to apply for an internship at Cloud Insurance?

Now that I’ve been working for a year in the consulting industry, I can say that at Cloud Insurance, you get to work with incredibly relevant technologies in the market. You get to work with a real project that provides Cloud Insurance with real value. You get to know a delightful crew. And, it will probably be the best summer job you’ll ever have!

What opportunities do you feel that the Cloud Insurance summer internship has provided you with?

The internship at Cloud Insurance was my first proper experience working as a developer in a bigger project, and I remember learning a lot about how you work with other developers in a team. This was important for me, both in terms of being accepted to where I wanted to go on exchange, other job application, and school projects during the rest of my education. A part-time job at Cloud Insurance as a developer, which grew alongside my studies, also significantly developed my programming skills. I also got the opportunity to continue the project that I became the owner of during the summer.

How was it to work with us in comparison to other previous/later jobs you’ve had?

Working in Cloud Insurance was to a high degree characterized by them being a small and tight team compared to other larger companies. For me, this meant being very self-sufficient and having a lot of ownership of my projects. As interns, we were given a lot of freedom, which also meant a lot of responsibility. The code we wrote was pushed right into the product being sold to the customer, which meant that it went through a thorough and strict feedback process. This is substantially more responsibility than I’ve experienced anywhere else, which makes it even more fun to work with. Also, it’s much easier to grow as a developer.

What new competence did you gain at Cloud Insurance?

I learned loads about front-end development and became comfortable with programming in Javascript and Typescript, and the framework Vue. In addition to this, I got way more into developer tools like Git, Gitlab, and unit tests. This has given me so much value later on, even in entirely different projects. Aside from my technical development, I also got to experience the other aspects of being a developer. For example, on several occasions, we visited customers to test the product together with them.

What do you think others will appreciate when working at Cloud Insurance?

It’s an excellent opportunity to get some hands-on insights and experience, both technically and just with the everyday life of a developer. Cloud Insurance is also an incredibly social environment, where Axel and the rest of the team are continually arranging get-togethers, summer parties, and other social activities. My favorite training shirt is still my Cloud Insurance one I got when we ran Holmenkollenstafetten!

Why would you recommend students to apply for an internship at Cloud Insurance?

It’s vital for me that a workplace has both a comfortable social environment and the possibility to challenge and develop yourself. You’ll get both of these at Cloud Insurance.

What opportunities do you feel that the Cloud Insurance summer internship has provided you with?

The first thing I think of is developing my workflow and learning how to work efficiently with other people in a real-life setting.

How was it to work with us in comparison to other previous/later jobs you’ve had?

Feeling seen at the summer internship, and having so much flexibility in what my workday looks like. It’s also helpful with frequent meetings and stand-ups – this is something I see very little of elsewhere.

What new competence did you gain at Cloud Insurance?

Experience with relatively large projects that include working on both frontend and backend, with diverse technologies. Apart from that, they have a very agile working structure, something that I carry with me through my studies and in other jobs.

What do you think others will appreciate when working at Cloud Insurance?

Free reigns! The benefit of being in a smaller company is that you get to affect all the work they’re doing – not just a task that you have to finish from A to Z. The environment at Cloud Insurance is also great, where you’ll see a smile around every corner!

Why would you recommend students to apply for an internship at Cloud Insurance?

An internship here will allow you to get experience with software development – both in terms of work structure and programming. To be part of a team at Cloud Insurance will train you in making your own decisions while asking for help is something they appreciate!
